Do you love listening to birds singing in the morning, but hate that spotting a cardinal or a hummingbird through your binoculars requires the patience of a Buddhist monk? Good news: technology is here to help! With the Birdfy Bird Feeder Camera, birdwatching becomes easier than ever.
No more long waits—say hello to HD photos and videos sent straight to your phone. I tested this game-changing model, and here are my honest impressions of this new connected gadget.

This feeder doesn’t just dispense seeds—it’s a smart device designed to offer an extraordinary birdwatching experience. The built-in Full HD 1080p camera captures sharp, detailed images of birds as they stop by to nibble.
Setup is fairly simple: attach the perch, antenna, and support arm, and you’re good to go. Then, connect the camera with the USB cable for an initial 10-hour charge. The Wi-Fi 5 antenna ensures a stable connection, which is essential for receiving real-time images and videos on your smartphone.
A solar panel can then be attached so it becomes autonomous once installed outdoors.
Its food reservoir holds 1.5 litres, which is enough to avoid frequent refills.
Even if you're not a birdwatching expert, this outdoor gadget is super fun. Both kids and adults are guaranteed to enjoy watching visitors fly up to the feeder and learning to recognize them.
Thanks to motion detection, the camera automatically turns on when a bird approaches. The footage is saved in the companion app, and you can also get real-time notifications for each movement. Night vision ensures you don’t miss anything, even after sunset.
The image quality is impressive. You can see feathers, delicate movements, and small details often missed by the naked eye.
The entire device is weatherproof. Plus, a free 30-day online storage system lets you save your best footage and easily rewatch or share it.
One important point to note is that the quality of your Wi-Fi connection is crucial. If your garden is far from your router or the signal is weak, video playback and notifications might lag.
While there’s free cloud storage for 30 days, enthusiasts may quickly accumulate videos they'd like to keep. In that case, a subscription or SD card will become necessary.
Although the feeder holds 1.5 litres of food, in my case, it emptied very quickly since I live in the mountains. When it was time to refill, I realized my setup was too high and a bit tricky to access without dismantling the whole thing. This is user error, but be sure to think about the ease of refilling when installing it to make life simpler.
The solar panel is also not the most aesthetically pleasing and needs to be placed close due to the short cable.
This smart feeder is a fun gadget that appeals to both bird lovers and nature enthusiasts. It lets you observe, capture, and share the beauty of your backyard wildlife, and helps you recognize the locals.
I truly think it makes a great gift for a parent, a child, or a friend who loves wildlife. It’s unique, practical, and entertaining—and everyone I’ve shown the videos to loves the concept.
All in all, I do recommend it for anyone who enjoys life’s joyful little moments and the wonders of nature.
